Below are some of the feedback from students. The names of the senders have been remove for privacy reasons. Oh, and I took that Salsa Bootcamp today in Huntsville and had a BLAST! What great instruction!! I'm sure John (salseroblanco) will be holding another in a few months, so I highly recommend it. He's very passionate about salsa and it comes through in his teachings. Even if you feel you already know the basic salsa steps (which was my hesitation in taking the class actually), he still has a lot to teach you that will help you (lead/follow, etc.) More than anything, it was sooo much fun! What I liked about Salsa Bootcamp: Length of the class (I feel I learn fairly quickly, so many times, the one hour group lessons are quite boring or frustrating in that just when the class "gets going", it's over. The four hours made me feel as if I was progressing.) Lead and Follow techniques All the experience that comes with John's abilities to salsa John's teaching abilities are wonderful and I could tell he made things much easier for the weaker dancers John's ability to "control" a large group setting effectively - it felt very organized The way you explained moves / hand movements & positions, etc. Instructor's energy is contagious! You can tell John loves what he does Value for the time and money (even considering I drove from Nashville) The fact that you offer repeat students 50% off the following lessons/bootcamps Instructor's humor kept it interesting Seeing the difference of dancing with different "leads"...some were strong, others weaker - while I preferred the stronger lead, dancing with a weaker one also tested my ability to NOT backlead The Salsa CD he gave us at the end of class It was wonderful! Can't wait to get better! My husband and I have been taking lessons from John since January and I am AMAZED at how much our Salsa dancing has improved. John is an EXCELLENT instructor who is able to break down the moves so that anyone (non-latin and not very coordinate people like us) can master them. He really excels at teaching the men to LEAD which is imperative in Salsa dancing. His classes are also enjoyable and fun! I would HIGHLY recommend anyone interested in trying something new or just improving your Salsa dancing, to come and take some classes with John. I would suggest you attend tonight's free dance, just to see the different levels of dancers and of course see the PRO -- John dancing! “Your bootcamp was FABULOUS!!!! Well worth the time and money to drive down from Nashville to Huntsville. You are a terrific instructor! Hope you do an Advanced Beginner Workshop like that in the near future. I'll be back! Your passion for salsa is contagious! :)” Hi John, I enjoyed the bootcamp very much and I’m looking forward to continuing with more instruction and practice. It was a lot of fun! I wish I had brought a partner – in fact I may repeat the bootcamp and bring a male friend to help even up the ratio (although I didn’t mind the chance to observe so the imbalance wasn’t a problem.) Aside from the dancing lessons, the class also gave me the opportunity to practice the art of letting go – not an easy thing to accomplish. Your instructions were clear; you were very encouraging and positive throughout. Your lovely bride was a great sub as a lead and supported individual questions very well – great teamwork. The only thing I would have done differently is wear a lower heel – this advice was in the handout but it might be useful to also put a little note in the web info (if it was there I didn’t see it.) I hope to see you both again very soon. Thanks again – great job! Hi John, Loved it - you are so much fun and yet, very professional and thorough. Definitely will come back for more. Hey guys, I agree with Nancy's comments; Salsa is a fun sexy dance, a mental & physical stimulant and a great opportunity to meet new fun and supportive people. I,ve been taking Salsa classes for about a year now and I decided to take John's Salsa classes and workshops this summer, and let me tell you...I know why his students keep coming back to him and new ones keep getting on board. First of all, he is not only affordable but he also has the knowledge and the people skills and motivation to create a fun and relaxed Salsa learning environment. His immediate positive feedback to his Salsa students & individual attention encourages us to perfect any given Salsa move given. As an academic instructor, I am aware of the right ingredients of an Excellent! instructor: knowledge, excellent teaching techniques and classroom management, and most important his commitment to the learning process of his students through his caring and dynamic and motivating attitude. Kudos John! Dancing Salsa is like therapy mentally & physically. It frees me from silly taboos/inhibitions and gives me confidence. Dare to feel the thrill of dancing Salsa! you'll love it too! Hello John, It was really excellent....I enjoyed it and look forward to learning more.... As a middle aged person, learning to dance Salsa is an on going process for me, but I am having a wonderful time! Salsa knows no particular age, background or race of people just those who want to have a great time. I would highly recommend this class because the instructor teaches Salsa the way the professionals dance for those who may wish to compete later or who just want to look extra smooth dancing at the clubs. John also makes learning fun with his humor and high energy. Salsa dancing is the perfect way to release stress while having a good time too. You get a workout as a bonus throughly enjoying yourself in the process. I have met a lot of interesting people who are also having a great time learning Salsa! Come check it out and you will have fun learning too! Hi John, I really enjoy the Class yesterday and hope that we will get more Dancers in. See you at the next Lesson :) John, We really enjoyed the class. We felt like we learned a lot just in the one hour. Can't wait for next week! Hi John, The class was great. We need to practice and get up to speed on the steps and turns. We are already talking about taking the next class. Thank you for leading the class. I LOVED the BEGINNER SALSA BOOT CAMP!!!! Although I had no reservations on attending the boot camp solo, I still convinced two coworkers to attend so I wouldn¢t be alone. When we arrived I was glad to find out: A. You did not need to have a partner. (One of the best parts) B. There was sufficient attendance that you did not come close to feeling alone. C. Everyone was friendly and very relaxed. D. Everyone learns at a different pace however, the class proceeded at a sufficient speed that no one was left behind. E. The instructors kept the class mentally engaged and entertained. F. It was one of the best experiences of my life. We have not stopped talking about how much fun we had. I do believe we may have convinced other coworkers to attend the next boot camp. I had so much fun that I may take the next level of classes. Thank you again for bringing this class to the HUNTSVILLE AREA!!! John, I really appreciated your lessons and style of teaching. I think making it fun and the comical techniques you employed made me feel more at ease to more effectively learn the dance moves. I felt pretty zapped mentally after the bootcamp Saturday but it was very enjoyable for me. I think my partner and I are gonna be there Tuesday night to practice a bit. I'm also interested in the less intensive hourly sessions, as I feel they might help me to retain more of the skills that we are learning if I learn in shorter bursts. It was definitely a lot of fun Saturday! Thanks again! First off, thanks for asking. So many people never ask for feedback! The class is awesome, John. I wasn't sure about doing the class for budget considerations as a full time student. But I decided to take the class as an investment to improve my technique and I am definitely doing that. Also, I started taking ballroom dance at UAH's fitness center in the hope that I would learn to double spin but did not get to learn. I am ecstatic that I got the opportunity to do so in your class. I have gained some confidence as well since I get to practice with a different group of people. I like the lightheartedness of the class environment, we're there to have fun and learn at the same time. That was the best salsa class I have ever attended. The instruction was clear and concise. You emphasized details that I would never have thought about. Both you and your wife did a spectacular job. If you have and intermediate class in Birmingham, I will try to make it up from Auburn. John- I had a great time! As a beginner, your instruction was very helpful and appropriate in timing. I loved the class. I would like to learn more dance moves as well. I taught my husband some of the things we learned on Sat. He seemed to like it as well. I hope to take another class in the future if it is offered! Everything gets a 5 star rating from me....thoroughly enjoyed the class and the classy instructors. I have thought about the class and enjoyed it and your style of teaching. I have taken a couple of salsa classes in the past and one thing I noted that was different (read better) about your class was the order in which you taught. Specifically, each class I have taken goes through the basic step, then the cross body lead. You did not. You taught the basic step, a couple of moves THEN the cross body lead. That felt more natural. I felt like I had accomplished more. If I am available, I will take your class in Birmingham and will definitely spread the word. Thanks again. |
